Model Animation

Do not confuse this animation with stop animation. Model animation is actually a form of stop motion animation but it is out there to push both humans and and animation together. Which are the bets ones out there?

King Kong 1933

Most stop motion films actually take their ideas from this film. The model is one of the most famous in the world and there is actually only one left from the film. It was actually inducted into the United States National Film Registry.

Song of Kong 1933

This one was the direct sequel to the movie and it was released in the same year, amazingly. It would certainly be impossible to do that now, the creators knew the film wouldnt be as good as the first so they turned up the comedy for the second one. It was a success without a doubt and it was combination of both of these films that inspired the 22 Godzilla films.

James and the Giant Peach

The film was based on the book of course. Burton was died down by Batman so only acted in as produced while Selick ended up being the director for this film. This is just one of those films that shows off how animation can so easily be put into real life instances. Although this film was actually met with so many positive reviews it never made a profit.

Bonus Entry

The Nightmare Before Christmas

This one is actually a stop motion picture which is why I have no included it the main list but it has to be one of the biggest and best stop motion films of all time and it made a massive $50 million when it was first shown in theatres, Disney were a bit worried about putting their name to it so they used their other company touchstone.

For real models check out plastic model kits and for a bit of fun look into RC automobiles or RC aircraft.
